We are not driving in from somewhere else

This matters more here than it sounds. After a storm, Hillsborough fills up with crews from out of state who work a season and leave. A roof warranty is only worth something if the company is still trading when you need it, and this is the part of the job you cannot check by reading an estimate.

We are based in Riverview, we have been trading under the family name for over 30 years, and we have been BBB accredited since 2008. Our crews are on our payroll, covered by workers compensation and general liability, and we have never subcontracted a job.

How to tell a roof is due rather than repairable

We would rather repair a roof that has years left in it, and we will tell you when that is the case. The signs that it is past repair:

  • Granules in the gutters. A handful after a new install is normal. A steady accumulation years in means the mat is going.
  • Shingles curling or cupping across whole slopes, not in one patch. Patch damage is a repair. Slope-wide is age.
  • Repeated leaks in different places. One leak is a flashing detail. Three leaks in three spots is a roof.
  • Daylight through the deck, or sheathing that flexes underfoot.
  • Age. Asphalt in Florida sun is a fifteen to twenty year material, well short of what the packaging says, because this is not the climate the packaging was written for.

What happens on a replacement

  • We look at it and write you a scope. Free, with the material named, and no follow up call unless you ask for one.
  • We pull the permit. The contractor should, always. If anyone asks you to pull your own permit for roofing work, ask them why.
  • We tear off and inspect the decking. Rotten sheathing gets replaced. What happens if we find rot is written into the scope before you sign, rather than discovered as a surprise on day two, because that is where most disputes in this trade come from.
  • Underlayment, flashing and the new roof go on. Flashing is where roofs actually leak, so it is where the care goes.
  • We clean up and haul away. Including the nails in your grass.

Shingle, metal or tile

Most replacements here are architectural asphalt shingle, and we are an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, which is a certification the manufacturer audits rather than one we award ourselves. If you want to weigh the alternative, the metal roofing page lays out honestly when metal is worth it in Florida and when it is not. You can compare the rest on types of roofs.

Where we go

Riverview and Brandon, plus Tampa, Valrico, Apollo Beach, Ruskin, Sun City Center, Wimauma, Lakeland and Bartow. We also work in Mulberry, Zephyrhills, Plant City, Thonotosassa, Wesley Chapel, Land o’ Lakes, Lutz, Carrollwood and Clearwater. Detail for each town is on service areas, and Riverview has its own roofing page.

Frequently asked

Do you pull the permit, or do I?

We do. If a contractor asks a homeowner to pull their own permit for roofing work, ask why.

What happens if you find rot under the old roof?

Damaged decking gets replaced. How that is handled and priced is written into the scope before you sign, not raised as a surprise partway through.

How long does a roof replacement take?

Most single family homes are a small number of days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof and on the weather. We will give you a realistic number when we have seen it rather than a number that sounds good.

Can you work with my insurance company?

We provide a written report from a Florida Certified Roofing Contractor with photographs, which is what an adjuster needs. Be wary of anyone who offers to handle your whole claim for you.

Are you licensed and insured?

Florida licence CCC1325942, Certified Roofing Contractor, active and registered in Hillsborough and Pasco counties. Every employee is covered by workers compensation and general liability. BBB accredited since 2008.
